Some photos from my Tenerife garden taken a couple of years ago. The first two are of Strelizia Reginae and the second two are of the inflorescence bursting from the casing of an Archontophoenix Cunninghamiana.
The English name for this little tree native to Australia is Piccabeen Palm.
As the seeds unfold from their leathery case, they are a pale mauve which turns to pink and later a deep red as they mature.
This makes for a spectacular show, especially when there are seeds in different stages of development on the tree at the same time.
